The History of Studio 6512

Check out the StudioCam.

In the beginning it started out with this... One very humble setup... Scr@chin' only...

Then an idea to create a studio was born. With the help of my cousin, we built this multi-purpose workstation.

This is a look at the first setup after the permanent workstation was installed. The Keyboard on the top is a friends Roland D-10, I have a small 8ch. Behringer, my father in-laws Boss DR-770, Sony 2ch. stereo amp, the Numark TTX1 and PPD01. For speakers the Polk 6.5" bookshelf's and Solid Sub&Sat. It's only a pc...

Here is setup #2 of the Studio. Added is the E-mu MP-7, Karma workstation, CDJ-1000 and upgraded the Behringer to the UB1822FX Pro mixer. I threw in the DM2 because I was playing with it for a while. Some of the beats were ok for scratchin'. The Roland D-10 sits in the guest bedroom now on a stand that my friend gave me. I am not sure if he wants the D-10 back. If he gets it back, I will probably buy a motiff.

This is right after I got rid of the CDJ-1000 and the Karma... I guess I was not happy with it or the setup before. Too much to learn, and the gear just did not seem like it fit together for creativeness sake (what a sorry excuse...). The TTX was in Numarks service dept, and so I was blessed to have Grandma's Music and Sound hook me up with a loaner TT-500 (Nice torque).

Before the MAC
Here is the 3rd major change to the setup. Got rid of the Karma and the CDJ-1000. Added the Oxygen 8 and the Roland SP-505. I also have a Numark CDX digital turntable added to the mix. Notice the 1200 in the back. Well when I bought the TTX in 2002, the motor had a defect in the design (overheated). So Numark was real cool to take my TTX back and install a new DD motor. In the meantime, my homie Dynagroove hooked me up with an old 1200 so I would not be without the scratch. Thanks D'groove...

Notice the modded Tech 1200 with the strait tonearm and the Tascam XS-8. Well my wife's cousin who graduated his HS as the valedictorian and the cousin who helped me build this workstation in my opinion earned this setup. However, I bought it for him hopes that we could work together in creating a Turntable crew and make music with our ideas. Well, since he is at the age of morphing into a man, he has since been sidetracked by his GF(the warden korn/PW). So that's cool man We still love you Metasin... Anyway, his setup is parked here, and hopefully he will forget it even exsisted... (put your mouse over the image for a closeup)

This is as of 31 of January 2005. I have the Powerbook G4 as my Reason setup, and the Power MAC Dual G4 is the multi-track Digital Audio Workstation. Also added is the new Pioneer DJM-707 scratch mixer. I got an M-Audio Delta 66 sound card and break out box for building a PC DAW for my brother's friend. He has the same sound card so if I have to help support him, I know what is going on. I moved the amp on this shot as well, made it more out of the way so I can have some reach on the equipment.

This week I spent a lot, but this will be it for a while, until I do something with the MP-7 as of 2.5.2005.

So check out this video of the studio at its current state. The video is over 2 minutes and is about 33mb large, so dial-up users may not want to click here.

Since you have visited the studio...

Let me know what you think and sign my guestbook.

Thanks...
